Job Summary
The Specialist in Emergency Medicine provides high-quality, evidence-based emergency care to patients presenting with acute illnesses or injuries. The role involves rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of emergency cases, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely and effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and effective diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Manage a wide spectrum of emergency cases including medical, surgical, trauma, and pediatric emergencies.
- Perform necessary procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, chest tube placement, and advanced resuscitation.
- Triage patients according to severity and ensure appropriate prioritization of care.
- Collaborate with other specialties to coordinate admissions, transfers, and referrals as required.
- Participate in emergency response teams (e.g., Code Blue, trauma calls) within the hospital.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the hospital’s electronic medical records system.
- Supervise and guide junior medical staff, nurses, and allied health professionals in the Emergency Department.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuing education activities.
- Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of specialty training in Emergency Medicine.
- Valid license or eligibility for licensing with the Qatar Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP).
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in Emergency Medicine.
- Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) preferred.
- Strong clinical decision-making and emergency procedural skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a multicultural environment.
