Job Title: Specialist – Emergency Medicine

Job Summary

The Specialist in Emergency Medicine provides high-quality, evidence-based emergency care to patients presenting with acute illnesses or injuries. The role involves rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of emergency cases, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely and effective interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and effective diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Manage a wide spectrum of emergency cases including medical, surgical, trauma, and pediatric emergencies.
• Perform necessary procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, chest tube placement, and advanced resuscitation.
• Triage patients according to severity and ensure appropriate prioritization of care.
• Collaborate with other specialties to coordinate admissions, transfers, and referrals as required.
• Participate in emergency response teams (e.g., Code Blue, trauma calls) within the hospital.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the hospital’s electronic medical records system.
• Supervise and guide junior medical staff, nurses, and allied health professionals in the Emergency Department.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuing education activities.
• Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Completion of specialty training in Emergency Medicine.
• Valid license or eligibility for licensing with the Qatar Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP).
• Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) preferred.
• Strong clinical decision-making and emergency procedural skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a multicultural environment.
