Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies,supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

The Infection Control Practitioner supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of the facility’s infection prevention and control program. The role ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, promotes evidence-based practices to reduce healthcare-associated infections, and works closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to strengthen safe, reliable care across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, investigate, and report healthcare-associated infections in accordance with DOH and JCI standards.
  • Conduct surveillance activities, analyze trends, and support timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide expertise on infection prevention best practices, including isolation precautions, device-associated infection reduction, environmental hygiene, sterilization, and outbreak response.
  • Facilitate staff education and competency development to promote adherence to infection prevention protocols.
  • Partner with clinical and facility leadership to evaluate risks, support audits, and drive continuous improvement in infection control performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, medical technology, public health, or other healthcare science required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Infection Control and Prevention in any patient care environment required
  • Minimum two years in direct patient care required
  • Certification in infection control required
  • Masters Degree in Nursing or a health-related field preferred
  • DOH/DHA nursing license preferred
