Job Description

The Education Lab Instructor will play a vital role in facilitating practical and innovative learning experiences for pre-service teachers. They will be responsible for guiding students through hands-on activities, experiments, and projects designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

Main Responsibilities


Strategic Role

  • Contribute to the implementation of HCT’s system-wide strategy
  • Assist with the development and preservation of system-wide and Faculty/Division-specific policies.
  • Participate in the academic and extra-curricular events at the College and within the community.
  • Engage in applied research relevant to the Division’s interest and the national innovation agenda and its targeted priority sectors.


Operational Role

  • Plan and execute interactive lessons that promote active participation and engagement among students while utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Ensure that lesson plans align with the main course instructor’s plans and timelines while also incorporating innovative approaches and technologies.
  • Conduct demonstrations and experiments to illustrate key concepts and principles across various courses.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance and guidance to students as they work on projects and assignments and offer constructive feedback to help them overcome challenges and achieve learning goals.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to exploration and discovery and implement effective classroom management strategies to promote respect, collaboration, and teamwork among students.
  • Assess student progress through observation, discussions, and performance-based assessments as well as keeping detailed records of student achievements and areas for improvement to be shared with course instructors.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in education and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  • Observe and reinforce health, safety and housekeeping procedures within the laboratory.
  • Organize and maintain equipment and propose equipment orders as needed.
  • Develop and utilize educational technology resources for effective instruction.
  • Develop and implement learning centers within the lab.
  • Support the Division in college-based activities (competitions, school visits, exhibitions, etc.) as requested by the Division Chair.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s degree preferred).
