Job Description

Role Overview:

This role is responsible to provide and maintain a high standard of medical imaging procedures for the facility by organizing and performing a variety of routine tests on the patients to obtain information for use in the diagnosis and/or treatment. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the cardiodiagnostics service including first line triage, performing studies and service improvement. Responsible for the maintenance of quality standards, and the effectiveness of patient pathways. Operationally the Cardiovascular Technologist will provide specialist technical expertise in cardiovascular diagnostics and will assist with the Invasive and Non-Invasive programs as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes state of the art echocardiography standards -Provides direct care and consultation in the management of patient care -In line with the medical staff, priorities and manage his/her own clinical caseload.
  • Provides specialist cardiac rhythm management expertise in the field of cardiac pacing, ICDs and implantable loop recorders, when applicable
  • Performs exercise ECG tests and tilt tests
  • Provide expert preliminary analysis and interpretation of all investigations.
  • Organizes and performs a variety of routine services such as: Non-invasive cardiology tests: Echocardiography studies; Exercise Echo and Exercise Treadmill Tests; Tilt Tests; 24-hour Holter monitoring and blood pressure monitoring tests; ABI – Demonstrate competency in the above procedures, interpret, and communicate the findings to the supervising Cardiologist.
  • Prepares the patient for the necessary tests and explains, in a calming and reassuring manner, to the patient and/or their families the procedure for carrying out such tests.
  • Demonstrates maximum amount of patient comfort when positioning of patients, setting appropriate technical factors, and producing optimal images.
  • Uses a computerized system, which is in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures, to input all diagnostic findings and patient information in a confidential & efficient manner.
  • Acts and notifies the medical staff of any significant abnormalities detected during the investigations and follow the facility’s policies regarding action. -Use sterile techniques in accordance with the policies and procedures to avoid contamination.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment within the department in accordance with the Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Ensures, always, the safe handling and proper disposal of any hazardous and/or infective materials following the facility’s established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares, adjusts and maintains all sterile equipment required for investigations.

Qualifications

  • BSc degree in Cardiovascular program
  • Minimum of 2 years within the same field
  • DOH/DHA Medical License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
