
Job Description
Maintains cleanliness, hygiene, and order in assigned areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, and public spaces. Ensures that cleaning standards comply with hospital policies, JCI accreditation requirements, and infection control protocols. Supports waste management, sustainable housekeeping practices, linen handling, and safety measures, creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Cleans assigned areas according to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards, including car parks and exterior spaces.
- Completes assigned cleaning tasks within the duty period and reports progress to the Supervisor.
- Handles cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and economically, ensuring proper usage.
- Ensures housekeeping trolleys and equipment are maintained in good condition, reflecting the hospital’s professional image.
- Notifies the Supervisor of discrepancies, safety issues, or shortages of materials and consumables.
- Participates in counting, collecting, and transporting soiled linen from patient care areas.
- Supports hospital waste management procedures, including segregation and safe disposal.
- Applies sustainable practices in daily housekeeping routines to reduce waste and conserve resources.
- Maintains accurate logging in and out of housekeeping keys at all times.
- Hands over lost and found property to Security in compliance with hospital policy.
- Performs duties with courtesy, confidentiality, and respect toward patients, visitors, and staff.
- Performs ad-hoc housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in housekeeping, preferably in a hospitality or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, housekeeping standards, and equipment handling.
- Knowledge of infection control and waste management practices in healthcare settings.
- Skills in using cleaning machines, chemicals, and related supplies safely and effectively.
- Skills in time management to complete tasks within designated duty hours.
- Ability to apply sustainable practices in daily housekeeping activities.
- Ability to communicate in basic written and spoken English.
- Ability to perform physical tasks requiring stamina and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt to changes in assignments, and respond effectively in emergencies.
