Ophthalmology Technologist – Ultrasound experienced
JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing basic ophthalmic testing procedures and ensuring the delivery of patient care in an effective manner.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs procedures as directed by physician or supervisor, which may include but not limited to testing of visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, motility, pupil assessment, color vision, topography, automated visual testing, pachymetry, keratometry and sterovision
• Obtains patient information, updates patient history and determines purposes of visit
• Records data into patient’s electronic medical record
• Refers gathered information to physician for further examination, diagnosis of problem and prescription of treatment
• Assists physician with examination procedures or minor surgery (i.e., holding probes on cornea, holding patient’s eyelid open during stitch removal and retrieving instruments)

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Graduation from a certified program (minimum two (2) year curriculum) for Ophthalmic Technicians

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years post graduate experience in retinal photography and fluorescent angiography is required
• Knowledge of ophthalmic testing procedures
• Experience in ultrasound is mandatory

Certification and Licensure

• Certification by JCAHPO, registration with Association of Ophthalmic Science Practitioners UK, or equivalent is required.

Job Specific Skills and Abilities

Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to speak and write in English is required

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
